This file contains late-breaking news about the LaserWriter Select 310 and Windows printing. Some of this information is not included in your printer manual.
USING YOUR LASERWRITER SELECT 310 WITH WINDOWS 3.1
Use the PostScript driver from your original Windows disk set or obtain the latest Windows driver from Microsoft customer support. Your LaserWriter Select 310 will operate with versions of the PostScript printer driver for Microsoft Windows 3.1 greater than 3.50.
At the time this document was created, the latest PostScript printer driver for Microsoft Windows 3.1 was version 3.54.
MORE THAN THREE DOWNLOADED TYPE 1 FONTS IN A DOCUMENT
A LaserWriter Select 310 with the standard RAM configuration (1.5 MB) may have problems printing documents requiring more than three Type 1 downloaded fonts. Each style of font (normal, bold, italic, bold-italic) counts as a font. If you use TrueType fonts in your document, you will be able to use many more fonts on a page than if you use Adobe Type 1 fonts. You will not sacrifice type quality by using TrueType fonts. You can also set the "Conform to Adobe Document Structuring Conventions" option in the "Advanced Options" section of the PostScript Printer Driver Setup dialog box. This option allows you to use up to three Type 1 downloaded fonts on each page of the document.
ADOBE TYPE MANAGER
Adobe Type Manager versions earlier than 2.5 print Courier for some fonts on the LaserWriter Select 310. Version 2.5 corrects this problem.
PAPER TRAY NAMES
The Windows printer driver's Paper Source and the LaserWriter Select 310's Paper Trays are named differently. The following table shows the paper trays that correspond to the Windows paper source options:

If you want to switch the printer connection from the parallel port to the serial port, or vice versa, be sure to turn the printer off while you make the switch. Turn the printer on again to reconfigure the port settings. Only one cable, either the parallel or the serial cable, should be attached to the printer at a time.
USING YOUR LASERWRITER SELECT 310 WITH WINDOWS 3.0
Use the PostScript driver from your original Windows disk set or obtain the latest Windows 3.0 driver from Microsoft customer support.
